Fax Service |
|
The Online Procurement Fax Service is a way for subscribers to receive
paper copies of notices that are generated by the system. This also allows
subscribers without easy access to e-mail and the Internet to participate
in the service and enjoy most of the benefits of other subscribers with
full access to the Internet-based Online Procurement system.
Notices are currently sent after several events:
- Registration. When a new subscriber is registered to the system, a
copy of their subscriber profile is sent to them. The subscriber profile
also identifies whether the subscriber will receive e-mail notices, fax
notices or both. For subscribers without access to the Internet, a
registration form can be obtained from Online Procurement. The form must
be filled out and returned for entry into the system.
- Load Listing Entered or Changed. When a shipper enters a new load or
changes information about an existing load, a notice is sent to the
Shipper's Preferred Carriers. A confirmation notice is sent to the
Shipper.
- Bid Entered. When a Carrier enters a bid, the Shipper is
automatically notified that the bid was entered. A confirmation notice
is sent to the Carrier.
However, the Fax Service does have some limitations.
- A subscriber without access to the internet will only know of loads
that have been listed by Shippers who have designated them as a
Preferred Carrier. All other loads must be found by doing a search while
logged on to the Internet system.
- A subscriber without access to the Internet will not be able to
search for, list, or review subscriber profiles.
- A shipper without access to the Internet cannot use sealed bidding
for a load.
- Generally, while effective, the Fax Service is somewhat cumbersome
compared to having direct access to the Internet-based system.
